Dillon Meier wasn’t ready to become a Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at first. But he credits great supervisors in Area Coaches Monika Cervenkova and Jacob Lozier, for continually encouraging him and instilling a great work ethic. Today, he not only celebrates two and a half years in this top position, but can now add opening a new restaurant to his list of accomplishments!
Dillon serves as RGM at one of our newest Taco Bells, nicknamed Veteran’s Parkway, in Murfreesboro, TN. He transferred over from our Murfreesboro Road location, which had been a much longer commute for him.
“I would say this is the busiest store I’ve ever been at,” Dillon shares. “It’s going to be a new challenge for me.”
Veteran’s Parkway
Two months in, Dillon confirms that this latest career opportunity at MRCO is keeping him busy!
“We have a lot of training to do,” he says. Many on the restaurant team at Veteran’s Parkway, according to Dillon, were pretty “green” when they opened in March. His focus in the short-term is bringing everyone up to speed.
“It’s definitely rough in the beginning because you’ve got a lot of new people,” he says of transitioning to a new location. “Everything gets a lot easier after a couple of months.”
Dillon doesn’t appear phased. After all, he’s been developed by strong leaders himself. When asked about company culture, he says MRCO strives for greatness.
“[There’s] a lot of great work ethic around,” he adds. “I’ve seen a lot of people put in a lot of hours to turn a store into the best it can be.”
Dillon himself has direct experience with this! Among what he’s most proud of is achieving five-star ratings for his last location eight out of 13 periods in 2024. Star ratings focus on the guest experience: speed of service, customer complaints, number of managers, audits.
“For years and years, the company was trying to make it profitable,” he says of Murfreesboro Road. “They were never able to find a great fit for it.”
Until Dillon. He was just 21 years old when he was promoted to RGM of that location. “Definitely puts on a lot of pressure — you gotta grow up quick,” he admits.
“It’s always been a good fit for me. I enjoy managing people.” -Dillon Meier, RGM
But Dillon appeared up for the challenge. “I really like to do a great job,” he says. “I like seeing the numbers grow, the team being happy, customers being happy. It’s a different type of satisfaction and it makes me feel good.”
This will serve him well at his new Taco Bell!
What’s Next
Dillon has been with MRCO almost seven years now. He joined the team while he was still in high school, like many of our young people.
“There’s a lot of upward movement that’s been available to me,” Dillon says of his steady climb up our career ladder.
“I’m the kind of person that wants to go as far, as quickly, as I can,” he continues. “The quicker I can go up, the better. I like to take on more responsibility and do as best of a job as I can.”
So what would Dillon say to someone who’s afraid to take that next step? “You’ll never fully be prepared. You’ve just got to to do it. And once you do it, it gets a lot easier.”
For Dillon, he hopes to become a Market Coach someday. “I wanna see how far I can take it,” he says.
